So even if I belong to a loyalty program, I can shop for items outside of my current program?

Absolutely! Don't forget, other members will use their points to fulfill your shopping request.
Are there any types of items that cannot be listed?

Yes. Certain dangerous, illegal, offensive, and perishable items are not allowed on LoyaltyMatch. We do our best to filter all non-matching items. If you are unsure, you may also send an email to and include the item description.
How do I request an item?

After searching for the item you desire, you simply click on      and your trading process begins. You must be registered to make a trade request.
Okay, I think I understand searching and trade requesting, but how do I buy the item I want?

You set a purchase price for the item. This price is what you will pay another member (the seller) for redeeming their points and obtaining the item for you.
How do I decide the purchase price or value of an item I want?

It is up to you to decide the value (price) of a reward. The options to buy, sell or trade rewards are available in one of two formats: fixed price or trade.
  • Fixed Price: The buyer (you) sets a definite price at which the reward will sell immediately if a seller clicks Make Offer.
  • Trading: Based on the principle of perceived value, this option allows a buyer to select a reward they want to trade for in exchange for a reward from the seller.
I need more help with the concept...

The LoyaltyMatch concept is quite unique. You search for items and set an asking price. The LoyaltyMatch system will find suitable sellers to reward you. Let's review the two options when you make a trade request:

Making a Cash Offer: A member who wants to buy a reward first searches the LoyaltyMatch database for rewards available through all programs. Once the buyer finds a desired reward, the buyer notifies LoyaltyMatch of a "cash offer" for the reward. LoyaltyMatch contacts potential sellers that a buyer is making a cash offer to buy a loyalty program reward.

Making a Trade Offer: A member who wants to buy a loyalty program reward first searches the LoyaltyMatch database for rewards available through all programs. Once the buyer finds a desired reward, the buyer notifies LoyaltyMatch of a "trade offer" for the reward. Once the buyer finds a desired reward, the buyer notifies LoyaltyMatch of a "cash offer" for the reward. LoyaltyMatch contacts potential sellers that a buyer is making a trade offer to exchange loyalty program rewards.

A buyer has the option of selecting Cash Offer, Trade Offer or both.
Okay I understand sending cash for an item, but what about a trade?

In the case where a buyer is trading with a seller, it is up to both members to redeem their respective points for the reward items and make any necessary shipping arrangements.
What does "pending activation" mean?

All trade requests start is "Inactive". Even though the request is not active, you will see the number of members eligible to complete your trade. It is up to you to decide to activate the request. Once activated, the LoyaltyMatch system will notify all members that are eligible to purchase your reward item (as an exchange alert). Remember, only trade requests that are active will appear in another member's exchange alert.
How much does it cost to activate a trade?

You will be charged $1.99 CDN to activate a trade. Trades remain active for 60 days.
How do I manage my trade requests?

The LoyaltyMatch trade request screen provides you with the details and status of your trades. Use this page to accept, modify, or reject an offer. You may also modify or renew a trade and cancel any trade request.
How do I accept a seller's offer?

When someone proposes an offer, you will receive an email notification and the new offer will appear in your offers screen. To view the details of the trade, click the trade ID in your trading account. To accept the offer, click Accept Offer.
What is the Trade Confirmation?

The Trade Confirmation is the final record of your transaction. It contains all the details of your trade agreement; including the item, additional cash offerings, delivery information, and message history.
Can members contact each other?

Only after a trade has been made active or an offer is placed are members allowed to contact each other. The LoyaltyMatch process allows communication between members during which a proposed trade is accepted, modified or rejected. Once you have proposed an offer, the negotiation process begins when an email is sent to the members who belong to loyalty programs that can Match your request. After the offer has been reviewed, you are notified by a LoyaltyMatch member of their merchandise offer to Match your offer. The trade process continues until the transaction is completed.
How do I pay the other member?

It is up to both members to finalize the payment details. We recommend a secure payment system like PayPal.
Is there more information you can give me?

Sure. There are a lot of common sense actions that must take place. For example, in the case where a buyer is trading with a seller, the buyer is expected to notify the seller of the expected ship date of the reward when confirming the order. The seller must also keep in contact with the buyer regarding all shipping activity.

In making a reward purchase or trade, you warrant and covenant to LoyaltyMatch that: (a) you are legally able to trade the rewards through the LoyaltyMatch Site, (b) you have read and agreed to the terms and conditions of for the loyalty or rewards program from which you are listing rewards to buy or trade on the LoyaltyMatch Site, and, (c) your offer to buy or trade will not violate the terms and conditions of your respective Loyalty Program as they pertain to you.
How do I give a feedback rating?

For each transaction, only the two members can rate each other by leaving feedback. Each feedback consists of a positive, negative, or neutral rating, and a short comment. Leaving honest comments about a particular LoyaltyMatch member gives other Community members a good idea of what to expect when dealing with that member. The feedback becomes a permanent part of the member's profile.

Feedback ratings are used to determine each member's feedback score. The higher the feedback score, the more positive ratings they've received from members. Learn more what these ratings mean. The feedback score and the corresponding feedback icon is shown next to the every member's user ID. Feedback can be entered at end of each completed transaction.

What are Exchange Alerts?

Once LoyaltyMatch obtains a trade request from the buyer, we notify potential sellers of the trade offer. Exchange Alerts are a convenient method for watching all trade requests that you can fulfill with your program points.
How do I fulfill a trade request (propose an offer)?

Scan the Exchange Alerts screen to find an item pending an offer. When you find a cash offer or trade request you desire, click on the make offer link. Follow the instructions in the LoyaltyMatch screens to submit your offer. After you submit an offer, the buyer receives and email notification of your proposal.
Is the trade now complete?

No. The buyer will be notified of your intention to redeem points for the reward item. It is up the buyer to finalize the deal. They have the right to reject your offer for any reason (e.g. a bad rating).
What if the buyer accepts my offer?

At this point you will be charged the $1.99 CDN transaction fee. Both you and the buyer will receive instructions via e-mail. You arrange to receive payment from the buyer and prepare to redeem your points.
How do I receive money from the buying member?

It is up to both members to finalize the payment details. We recommend a secure payment system like PayPal.
I need more detail about the exchange.

We confirm the buyer is willing to pay the transaction fee, any shipping costs, and any taxes in connection with the reward (for a trade).
